12/1 Meeting Recap
In attendance at this month’s meeting were Laura Frank from the Indiana Arts Commission, Sara Meier from the Indiana State Museum, and Elizabeth Schoettle, Katie Springer, and Virginia Vought from the Indiana State Library.
Subcommittee members reported on their work promoting the Census. The Indiana State Museum has not yet created the slide promoting the Census for display before IMAX films. Once it’s finished, Sara will work to get a copy of the slide to share.
The State Library is still waiting to receive the “billboard” image promoting the Census for their website. Liz reported that she and others at the library will be meeting next week to plan activities for Census Day in April. Katie recommended the new federal Census website. She has made a PowerPoint presentation about answering questions on the Census and will host free sessions to the public, with no required registration. The first will be held on February 18th at the State Library. Please e-mail her for more information. You can also e-mail Katie or Liz if you would like Katie to host the workshop at your organization, event, or for your employees.
The Census banner is available to display at your events or programs. It is an attractive, free-standing vertical poster. Contact Carol Graham at the Indiana State Library to book: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our next meeting will be held Tuesday, January 28th at 2PM in Roberta Brooker’s office (Room 403) at the Indiana State Library. We will all work on finalizing our plans for our actual promotion work in order to start putting them in place in January. Please also be thinking of how you might get the word out to your networks and think about how you might promote or celebrate Census Day, April 1, 2011.
